Live Action Set's "Unset" plays through 3/26/17 at the Southern Theatre in Minneapolis.
I took the leap! I went to a rehearsal of Live Action Set's Unset, which is playing this week at the Southern Theater, and I danced. You can dance, too! During Unset Live Action Set dancers will ask for volunteer audience members, so if audience participation isn't your thing, don't worry. They won't grab you and take you on the stage unwillingly. Each evening consists of a series of improvised dances in which a self-chosen audience member becomes co-creator of the dance as a guest star of the company. Live Action Set is a Minneapolis-based physical theater performance company founded in 2003 by Noah Bremer, Galen Treuer, Megan Odell, and Vanessa Voskuil. They are committed to creating original, ensemble-driven performances.

I spend a lot of time behind a computer and I don't have the chance to dance with others very often. Participating with trained dancers and other audience members was exhilarating! I recommend trying it. The company was very inviting and the atmosphere crackled with the excitement of creativity and playfulness.
Honestly, I was feeling a bit nervous before participating but once I got onto the dance floor, it was pure joy. And the few dances that I didn't participate in I got to watch and I was absolutely stunned at the beauty and originality that was unfolding before me. How can an unrehearsed dance be so varied and beautiful? I guess you'll have to try it out to see for yourself. |

You can dance (if you want to)! Unset invites YOU to play: expressively, significantly, with the company, as part of the company. Each evening consists of a series of improvised dances scored by live music in which Live Action Set invites you to be co-creator as a guest star of the company. You choose how you want to engage: the performance is as much for the audience-participant on stage as it is for the audience members in the seats.
